On May 2nd, 1998 a battle was fought between Voldemort and Harry Potter. In the end, the Boy Who Lived prevailed, though there were many scars left behind and not just physical ones. The price was high, but the freedom from the oppressive regime was won. The castle was rebuilt and the spirits of those who fought slowly began to rise once more as they settled into their daily lives.
FALL 2003
It's been 5 years since the Battle of Hogwarts. Almost everyone there has graduated and began their adult lives. The world is rebuilding. Everything seems peaceful. Many people forced into joining Voldemort have lived out their sentences and are being free. Others are still in Azkaban, deemed threats even without their leader. [break][break] However, a movement has started to forgive the Death Eaters for their crimes during the war - after all, even the more 'dangerous' ones could have been forced into it. It is a way to forgive and move on instead of suppress the voices and perhaps even make them louder to those who are free. Many still feel the scars from the war - it was only five years prior. [break][break] Additionally, some are hoping to introduce muggles to the concept of magic, spiking anti-muggle attitudes in some while enflaming those who want to come out of the dark and join societies with the muggles. Many are against it - many are for it. What happens is unknown, but violence has risen against those considered 'racist' towards muggles - even if they might just be innocent people afraid of being hurt by the muggles like they had in the distant past. HOGWARTS
Hogwarts is beginning again. The 7th years remember the year of occupation, but otherwise everyone else does not remember the time - they didn't attend after all. It was years ago - even the older students only spent one year under the occupation of the Death Eaters, but scars last forever. Regardless, this year has started back up just like it had before the war. Some changes have been made - including more protections on the castle, extra classes being offered to open up discussion about acceptance of those different than others. Many social leaps have been made in the last years, accepting people who might not have been able to be themselves in the past, such as those in the LGBT+ community. [break][break] A masquerade is planned for Halloween and so the students are getting ready for it. The dress code is anything the students wish (within reason) and mask over their face. Costumes are allowed, as well as fancy dresses and suits.
